A number of events are on the local calendar between mid July and early September, which may (or may not!) interest Club members.
12th July: Isle of Thanet vintage bus day, based on the Spitfire and Hurricane Museum at Manston.
25th July: A little outside the Club area, but Brighton & Hove have announced details of an open day at their Lewes Road depot, which may nevertheless appeal, especially to those with tram interests:
https://www.buses.co.uk/open-day.
26th July: Likewise just "over the border", but Amersham & District have a running day based on Westerham and Oxted.
8th August: Club Tour along the Kentish border, including a visit to Metrobus Crawley depot, and Go-Coach at Swanley - pick-ups in Swanley and Tonbridge, and all for a minimum donation of £10. If you have not received the tour circular by e-mail and would be interested in finding out more, please e-mail mdekbusclub [at]
gmail.com - we've only done it this way as about 10-15% of members attend regularly, so it saves paper and eases the dispatch team's work. Please note, we are only able to accept Club members and their directly invited (and pre-booked) guests on the tour.
9th August: The annual Kent & East Sussex Railway event at Tenterden. The Club sales stand will be in attendance, and all things going to plan, we should have the 2026 Independent Operators Fleetlists publication (P.41) available.
16th August: Following last year's success, another event has been arranged at West Kingsdown, to mark 40 years of Roundabout (Orpington). A smaller Club Sales stand, mostly West-Kent focussed, will be in attendance. Additional part-day assistance would be very welcome here.
5th September: The annual FoTEK event at Walmer Green. The Club sales stand will be in attendance.
6th September: The annual Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Railway event at New Romney. The Club sales stand will NOT be attendance here - the logistics of attending two events in the same weekend are more than the current team can handle.
Additional helpers for the sales stand attendances are always welcome, even if for an hour or so (the only reason it's always the same faces you see - most of whom are also committee members - is because we couldn't attend at all without those same people!).
Very further afield, but also note that owing to building work on the usual site, the Alton event on 19th July has been cancelled for this year.
