Important tools for anti-deportation campaigners  - country reports from "authoritative" sources

U. S. Country Reports on Human Rights Practices in 2010

Country reports are important tools for campaigners opposing removals/deportations from the UK and extracts from these reports should always be part of your campaign materials.

Reports from "authoritative" sources means reports from reliable sources; organisations that the Home Office would likely deem credible, including 'UNHCR', 'USA Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor', 'Amnesty International', 'Human Rights Watch', and UKBA Home Office country reports.

USA  Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, provides a wealth of material on the inhumane treatment/position of women/ethnic/religious and political minorities.

Their reports for 2010 were published on the 8th April 2011 and all the countries can be accessed here:

Below extracts from the report on the UK top 10 destination countries for removals/deportation: Afghanistan, DR Congo, India, Pakistan, Cameroon, Brazil, China, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Philippines, Nigeria:

Common to all countries below: Government, extrajudicial killings; torture, impunity, severe restrictions on press/religious freedom/trade unions, societal discrimination against women and ethnic minorities, harsh prison conditions, trafficking of women & children.
