After running pelagic trips on from East Coast since 2002 we are sad to say that we have decided to close See Life Paulagics due to personal reasons. As much as we have enjoyed these trips it’s simply not reasonable for us to continue.
We would like to thank all of you who came out to sea with us through all the years. We’ve had many discoveries concerning pelagic birds and cetaceans in our area. When we started we could not have predicted that we would discover:
· Dovekies are common and have a preferred feeding water temperature.
· Common Murre is expected in winter within a certain depth zone.
· Band-rumped Storm-Petrel is a common if you go deep enough.
· White-faced Storm-Petrel is a very regular bird though can be difficult to see.
· Black-capped Petrel is regular and occur at least May to October.
· Cuvier’s Beaked-Whale is regular beyond the Continental Shelf.
· Striped Dolphin is a somewhat regular visitor to offshore waters.
· *@&$ing Western Gull in New York!
Just because we’re no longer running trips ourselves doesn’t mean there will no longer be pelagic birding opportunities. We have been in contact with the captains we have used and they are very interested in running these trips themselves. We plan on supporting these trips completely by helping with trip timing, destinations, chumming, getting the word out, and attending ourselves. We hope you’ll support the boats who will be running trips and keep pelagic birding in our region alive and well.
Thank you for all the years of wonderful trips and discoveries. It’s been one hell of a ride and we hope to see you on the water in the very near future.
If any of you still have balances we will be issuing refunds over the next few months. Also we have had repeated problems with our phone line so please contact us by email at in...@paulagics.com.
In addition, I'd like to add that I, Anita am extremely grateful to my husband Paul for understanding my health concerns, with all the issues that we face, I still know that I have the best Lifer anyone could ever discover on a boat or on land. July 14th marks our 31st year as a married couple, and I count my blessings I have Paul to lean on when the surf is up. I look forward to seeing you out birding and beyond.
