to Maryland & DC Birding
Birders who have been viewing the dusk flights of Short-eared Owls in fields adjacent to West Willard Rd. and Izaak Walton Way for the past few weeks should be aware that there is now an eBird Hotspot representing the whole length of Izaak Walton Way from West Willard to the security gate at the Izaak Walton League's private property entrance. The new Hotspot is called:

Izaak Walton Way (bird from road only)

and birders who have visited to see the owls are invited to Merge their eBird Personal Location(s) with this new Hotspot.

The Izaak Walton League's private property (the "Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter") has its own eBird Hotspot - BCC-IWLA (private) - but birders should note that the property is birdable only by special permission or in company with a League member.  Montgomery Bird Club has occasional trips here, with the next one coming up on May 2, led by Jim Nelson. This trip has a 6-person participant limit because of Covid restrictions.
