Those not yet able to purchase the GAP can still benefit by purchasing an annual pass at a park they often visit.

Details on the annual pass:
Great Falls Annual Pass - $35.00
Valid for one full year from the month of purchase. Permits access to Great Falls Park, Virginia and the Great Falls area of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. The annual pass allows entrance for the pass holder and additional passengers in a single private non-commercial vehicle, or pass holder plus three adults when entering on foot or bicycle.

BUT, do everyone a favor and purchase on-line, or purchase on-site during slack times. There's nothing more frustrating than having your already purchased pass access and having to wait and wait and wait while others complete their paperwork in looooooong lines of cars ahead of yours.

I purchased my Annual National Parks Pass this past Saturday at the Great Falls toll booth. Took about 45 seconds. No paper work.

The Annual Pass is a different application process since there's no need for age verification.

Good point...

I first purchased an Annual National Parks Pass in 2008, when I moved from Boston to LA. I thought it would be a good money saver as I drove across the country. I was right, and I've gotten the pass each year since then. It's always helped me save money - some years $20 or $30, other years 3-4x or more of its purchase price.

I realize that $80 is not in the cards for everyone, but if you can do it I highly recommend getting a pass.

Thanks,
