Subject: Bullock's Oriole
It appears that our oriole has settled on a more regular pattern as he was seen throughout the day on Friday and Sunday. We were not home on Saturday. Visitors are welcome to try their luck with the same rules as last year. Try to park on the blacktop and don't block traffic. Walk around the front of the house on the pond side (east) to the pine woods behind the house and set up next to the stone building where the feeders should be visible. Please don't arrive before 8 am. I recommend bringing a lawn chair just in case the bird is tardy. The address is 2659 Bradenbaugh Road.
While in the neighborhood you may want to check Turney's pond at 4531 Harford Creamery Road. A large flock of Canada Geese, one Tundra Swan, a small flock of ring-necked ducks, one American Black Duck, and one drake Redhead were on the pond on Sunday afternoon. I have not been able to find a Cackling Goose yet in 2014 but they are usually present based on past years' experience. The 2 Barnacle Geese are still possibly wandering Harford County so don't forget to consider that possibility. Permission is granted to drive down the paved driveway and pull to one side to not block traffic. It is best to stay in the car or very close by to prevent flushing the birds.
The World Famous Bradenbaugh Flats had a large flock of horned larks present during the last snow event but I did not find any other species. Best spot is Harford Creamery Road just south of the intersection with Bradenbaugh.
Good luck and I would appreciate knowing if you find the oriole.
