Hi Everyone,

MBP partnered with the National Aquarium and actively supported this year's Baltimore area City Nature Challenge. It's been a very positive and productive experience. See the below post we published on Facebook today. To help the Baltimore area team represent Maryland on the world stage, please help ID species this week at the link below. The volume is very impressive and we have this week to grow the species total via review of the nearly 10,000 observations already submitted (clock stops at noon, I believe). Great work, Maura and Christina (cc'd)!

What an incredible community turnout for the Baltimore area City Nature Challenge and the first days of May "biodiversifying" in Maryland! The volume of submissions has totally eclipsed recent weeks - we're talking an order of magnitude. I personally identified well over 1,000 observations and I know other MBP contributors and editors were busy documenting and reviewing! The MBP final approval queue is generally at about 200-400 photos when I wake up on Monday, but today it's well over 2,000. The Baltimore area City Nature Challenge team already has over 1,500 species documented and that number will expand steadily as we review the data carefully over the coming week. (Results will be announced on 5/10). Baltimore is positioned pretty strong globally, which has so much to do with the amazing community here. Thanks, everyone, and great work. More to follow! Thanks again to Maura Duffy, Christina Garvey, and the rest of the team at the National Aquarium for the exceptional organization and outreach efforts.

Here's an awesome Bluespotted Sunfish photographed by Emilio Concari and Sue Muller, who helped the challenge significantly with aquatic life documentation. Nice work!
