Maryland Biodiversity Project and our amazing community - that’s you! - had another fantastic year. Thank you! And as you all know, it’s never been more important for us to catalog and protect our biodiversity. Can you make a #GivingTuesday donation and help us keep doing more good in 2026?

Together we’re collecting more data each year and putting it to use for science, conservation, and education. MBP and partners like the Maryland Ornithological Society (MOS) continue to support our flagship bird counts at Turkey Point, which just completed its fifth year, and Dans Rock, now in its fourth year. These counts are generating invaluable migration trend data and we are now collaborating with morning flight counts around the eastern U.S. to maximize the value of such efforts. We are working closely with key stakeholders such as the Maryland DNR Natural Heritage Program. Community members are leading new and creative efforts, such as Sue Muller’s quad-busting efforts, which engaged dozens of participants and reached impressive milestones like 1,000 species in the Alexandria quad. The work we’re doing in Maryland and in partnership with iNaturalist continues to generate interest in states and provinces across North America.

On the technical side, we completed the MBP web redesign to make the full website mobile-friendly, faster, and more responsive. All pages now look great on mobile devices and many were significantly enhanced. We upgraded all aspects of data ingestion, added caching for faster page loads, and much more. We have big plans for further upgrades in 2026, including further enhancements to the Maryland Plant Atlas.

Thank you so much for your continued support. Let’s keep going!
