Thank you for your support in making 2024 another tremendous success. Together, we documented Maryland’s biodiversity and worked to maximize the value of that data to science, conservation, and education.
The MBP community is collecting more data - and higher quality data - than ever before. We and our partners like MOS led the fourth year of the Turkey Point Bird Count and the third year of the Dans Rock Bird Count. Lead counters Levi Parker (Turkey Point) and Josh Ward (Dans Rock), along with a team of talented alternate counters, collected invaluable migration data. Our major BioBlitz of the year was held at Adkins Arboretum and was part of a sweeping and productive collaboration. We partnered widely to maximize the value of the MBP data. The work we’re doing in Maryland and in partnership with iNaturalist continues to generate interest in states and provinces across North America.
On the technical side, we are wrapping up the MBP web redesign to make the website mobile-friendly and responsive. This included re-envisioning nearly all pages to look beautiful on mobile devices, add a great deal of functionality, and still load quickly while loading larger volumes of data. We are hopeful that 2025 will see upgrades to the database, data ingestion process, new data analytics, and major upgrades to the Maryland Plant Atlas website.
Please join us in focusing on the importance of biodiversity. Thank you so much!
