REQUIREMENT:

The Senior Network Design Engineer is responsible for the design,
project management, and
implementation of projects related to the network. This includes switch
engineering (equipment, traffic,
and building layout), translations, network connectivity (PSTN, SS7),
cell connectivity (hubbing), and
miscellaneous equipment (including Digital Cross Connects, DSX, Voice
Mail, EHLR, ATM). The
Senior Network Design Engineer should have a major strength (switch,
network, translations), but should
be able to provide input to all areas of network design. This position
requires a strong knowledge of
mobile switch design, network signaling and traffic engineering. This
person must be highly
motivated and have strong project management/leadership skills. This
position requires constant
interaction with other departments and vendors, therefore, solid oral
and written communication skills are
necessary. 5 years + cellular, telecommunications, network
planning/design and knowledge of Lucent
product lines desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Design MSC and miscellaneous related switch equipment - Lucent equipment
requirements,
switch layout, research required miscellaneous switch equipment
Design translations requirements for all network related equipment when
required (dialing plans,
routing, 5ESS, ECP)
Develop traffic engineering requirements/strategies, as well as
determine critical triggers
Develop interconnect strategy, optimizing to meet marketing, technical,
and business requirements
Develop backhaul; strategy - research backahaul options (considering
partner assets), develop
recommendation for best overall value/quality/timeliness, establish
processes
Work closely with Corporate to recommend standards, provide input on
proposed solutions,
participate on Task Forces.
Work closely with other Network Design team members to mentor them in
wireless. Assist team
magbmers in their projects, review work, provide leadership and
knowledge.
Project management of any Network Design related task that evolves.
