We are liaisons to a coalition of organizations supporting opposition to the NDAA's indefinite detention provisions by state and local legislation, in addition to federal legislation. This group is one result of Montgomery County Civil Rights Coalition efforts to support HB558, the "Maryland Liberty Preservation Act of 2013." While that legislation did not succeed, we hope to get a better result for similar or better legislation in future sessions of the Maryland Assembly, as well as support legislation and resolutions by Maryland cities and counties, such as the Takoma Park NDAA resolution of 2012. The model resolution for that effort can be viewed here; it was the resolution endorsed by BORDC and ACLU-MD in 2012 for the Takoma Park resolution, but we are not limited to that model if better ones are found.
