Dear Professor Fang:

I am attempting to conduct the light simulation of fruit tissue according your teaching videos of MCX. However, the file mc2 can not be found in the output folder of different examples. And the results of jnii or nii are different with that of mc2 in the teaching video.1.png

hi Yucan,

mcx can either save output in .mc2 (old) or .jnii (new) files, but not both in one run.

since v2023, mcx started using .jnii as the default output format. it contains more information and easier to parse than .mc2. please see

https://github.com/fangq/mcx?tab=readme-ov-file#volumetric-output

if for some reason you still want .mc2 outputs, you need to add -F mc2 in the command line.
