PRESS RELEASE - MILLBROOK CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT
(Provided in cooperation with Dutchess BOCES Public Information
Service)

HEADLINE: Millbrook High School Athletic Department Receives NYSPHAA
Good Sports Award
MILLBROOK, NY-DECEMBER 22, 2010

Millbrook Central School District is pleased to announce that the
Millbrook High School Athletic Department received the New York
State
Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHAA) Good Sports Award
within Section IX for 2010. The Good Sports Award is sponsored by
the
Sportsmanship Promotion program.

Recipients of the award are selected annually by the NYSPHAA
Sportsmanship Committee based on the results of sportsmanship
promotion surveys. The surveys are completed and submitted by
district athletic directors every spring. Three to four qualifying
schools per section with exemplary sportsmanship programs are chosen
to receive the plaque. Sections are regionally determined, with
Section IX encompassing Dutchess, Orange, Sullivan and Ulster
counties.

The Millbrook District was recognized this year for its commitment
to
good sportsmanship, anti-bullying, and promotion of a good athletic
experience for students, parents, community, and guests. Assistant
Principal and District Athletic Director Brian Devincenzi remarked,
“It is a wonderful honor for the Millbrook High School Athletic
Department and I feel that a large part of the credit goes to
physical
education teacher Shawn Stoliker, and the Athletes Helping Athletes
(AHA) program. I used the AHA program as part of my response to
questions on the survey. I truly feel that this program has had a
positive impact with our students in the District. This award is
another example of some of the strides we have made in the last 8
years.”
