Dear IVW veterans,

This is a note from Cecelia Yocum, an IVW member and a therapist who cares for veterans with PTS.  She has seen the movie, "They Shall Not Grown Oladd," and she praises it as a war film, but she advises veterans that it could trigger traumatic memories, as there is quite a bit of bodily harm in the movie.

Sorry I meant to add that people should be careful if they have ptsd. They will see people being blown apart or in pieces. Over and over again

It was sad to see these young guys going off to war and what happened to them.

I would say it is an anti war film very well done

Dear interfaith friends,

Have you seen, "They Shall Not Grow Old?" I saw it last month, and it is without a doubt the most emotionally powerful film of war I have ever seen.

The producer started this project several years ago, to create a documentary for the Imperial War Museum in England, to coincide with the 100th anniversary of WWI.  He took original films (in terrible shape)  and technologically enhanced them so that it looks like they were made last week.  He managed to get experts to lip read the soldiers (it's silent of course) and recorded the exact words they said (he found the documents some of them were reading from) and actually went to Belgium and France today to get the right color of the dirt and mud and sky.

He included interviews from the 1960's of survivors who were there, and in some of the old films.

It leaves you speechless.

I want to see this film, and I think it's playing currently at the Regal Theater.  See:  https://www.atomtickets.com/movies/they-shall-not-grow-old/283232

I'll write a review if I manage to see it.

Peace,

Tom
