Dear interfaith friends,
Moral injury, a key factor in the high rate of suicide among military veterans, is an injury to the conscience, and the conscience is rooted in a person's spirit. Veterans in the Interfaith Veterans' Workgroup are promoting Post Traumatic Growth in themselves and others, because they recognize the importance of belonging to communities of faith. Communities of faith help to fortify and protect life in the spirit. The following article describes how churches can help veterans returning from war to become stronger. Although the article appears in a Christian magazine I believe that many of the points it makes will be helpful to other faith traditions as well. If you are a Muslim, a Jew, a Sikh, a Buddhist, or belong to anoter tradition, please rewrite this article to apply to your own community of faith. Veteran suicide is a spiritual affliction. We must all work together to help our veterans become stronger from their war experience. See: https://bit.ly/2OhYfNg
