Tuesday night’s Academic Roundtable was a successful continuation of
dialogue started during our Town Hall Meeting. The purpose of the
roundtable was to better understand parents’ interpretations of academic
achievement and celebration. Thirty-two parents and teachers attended
the meeting to share their thoughts, openly discuss honoring academic
achievement, and brainstorm creative solutions for stimulating academic
recognition at McNear.

The next step in this organic process is for the Community Committee to
review notes of all brainstormed comments from our Academic Roundtable
and identify common themes. The teaching staff will then work with these
ideas and themes to develop tangible next steps towards improving
academic achievement and recognition at McNear.

The Community Committee posts agendas, minutes and notes, such as last
night’s roundtable, to the McNear website when they become available.
(http://www.mcnearelementary.org/community.html ) As always, questions
and suggestions may be directed to the Community Committee at
mcnearc...@gmail.com. Interested and committed parties are
encouraged to attend our meetings. While Community Committee meetings
are open to interested parents, we are also seeking additional committed
members to regularly join the Community Committee for the next school
year. Please contact us for future inclusion!

Thank you,
The Community Committee
