RECOLOGY EXPANSION
Brad Drda, Environmental Manager from Recology, and Dave Johnson, architect and managing director of William McDonough and Partners Architecture and Community Design
firm, will present the latest plans for the Recology expansion on Tunnel Avenue. There have been significant changes in the plans from what they presented in the past.
Recology is the largest business in Visitacion Valley and has had an enormous impact on the neighborhood. It is important that our community be involved and have a voice
in their plans for expansion.
590 LELAND UPDATE
There has been some activity on our part in terms of the 590 Leland proposal for 5 units of housing adjacent to McLaren Park land. The developer's proposal is for three units that will be 3 stories high and two units that will be 2 stories high ranging from 2,800-3,500 square feet.
The issues are shadows cast on park land, blocked views from both inside and outside the park and elimination of open space integral to the strip of McLaren Park from Vis Valley Middle School to Hahn Avenue. Overall, this area of the park provides an entrance into McLaren Park and pathways from the middle school and John King Senior Housing. It is the last vestige of accessible McLaren Park open space in the Valley available to current residents and the anticipated huge influx of new residents.
