2. However this is what I see when I start speedform 2017. From all those body and canvas layers, I can imagine that there are something actually, but all I see is just a gray screen.....(speedform_2017_capture_01.jpg)

3. But if I change view single-view into multi-view or the other way around, then I shortly can see there are my objects like the screenshot but this will disappear in a second....(speedform_2017_capture_02.jpg)

okay, but this is only happening for this file, correct? If you open a new file in Speedform 2017, the view is displayed correctly? If yes, then it seems that the view information of the file written in Speedform 2016 is somehow not readable in 2017 (whyever).

You could either provide the file to me, and I can have a look into it together with a developer to see what's wrong, and get it fixed (and maybe also find a general solution in case it's a problem that also might affect other users). Actually this would be my preferred solution in case this happens to more than one file for you, as it would be a structural problem then, what is likely to affect other users, too.

Or you can create a copy of your file, and then rename it from .sf3d to .zip. Then unzip the file to get a folder structure, which contains the folder FusionAssetName[Active]\TSplines.BlobParts. In that folder, you will find each of the T-Spline bodies of your file as a .tsm file. Those .tsm can then be imported into a new Speedform 2017 file (which I hope doesn't have your view problem?). Does this work for you?

Seems that Autodesk is providing subdivision modeling in Alias2020 and meantime Alias Speedform is no longer updated, I can tell that Autodesk suggests customers use subdivision modeling instead of Speedform.

I 've been using Alias for a long time and I know polygon modeling, I am thrilled by this integration, But still, I want to know what is the difference between Speedform tspline and Alias Subdivision. Did Autodesk just put speedform in Alias2020 and do some optimization about it?

there is quite a bit of a difference between what is in SpeedForm and what is in Alias now. The biggest difference is that Subdiv technology is now tightly integrated into Class A / NURBS modeling. That that is one of the areas, the users of SpeedForm were asking for improvements. For that reason we decided to follow that what we call Hybrid Modeling approach.

Just one example:
Subdivs in Alias allow you to start with your polygon modeling, and later attach NURBS surface to your Subdiv bodies (let's say by stiching them to the Subdiv geometry). If you decide to alter the Subdiv body later, your NURBS piece will follow!

From the math point of view, there are only slight differences. In general it fair to assume that the Subdiv technology is (almost) the same as in SpeedForm. However, we have improved the quality of the yielded surface in many ways, e.g. they are curvature continuous around extra-ordinary points.

There is a lot more about the Subdiv integration to talk about - and I am happy to answer all your more specific questions (if I can). As a good starting point, it might be worth to check on =Alias_Subdiv_aboutsubdivisionmodeling_html for an overview of what's possible with the current version of Alias.

Without going into deep technical detail, Alias 2020 uses an industry standard open source solution called OpenSubdiv (from Pixar) for Subdivision Surfaces computation and not the TSpline library found in Speedform.

We did this for several reasons, most of which are technical in nature and had to do with integrating Subdivision technology inside Alias in a manner in which full Hybrid surfacing would be made possible. (That is to say that modeling with both Nurbs and Subdivision surfaces in a seamless and interactive manner is possible, which was not a primary concern in Speedform)

In Alias 2020, we use a Subdivision control cage (quad mesh) to drive the output of limit surface Bezier patches that exist as native NURBS surfaces within Alias and can be used as the high quality Class A surfaces required for technical surfacing. Because the output are native NURBS surfaces, they can be used as inputs to any of Alias's existing surface modeling, evaluation, or visualization tools.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply, it is quite helpful. Yes, As an Alias modeler, I believe this integration accelerates Alias modeling process a lot especially it allows us to do something only used to be done in Maya some other Poly modeling applications. I used to use Speedform for car modeling for a while, but i did insist for long because of the performance Speedform shows when dealing with heavy data, thanks for your trying on Alias early modeling, personally, I think Open-SubD it a better solution, thanks again.

1. Quantitatively speaking, just HOW precise is the output NURBS surfaces from Subdiv control cages? I know one of the key advatanges of ordinary NURBS over Subdiv 'Polygon' is that the former provides precise control of the geometry and therefore allows precise control of specular reflection etc. Put it another way, can you make a 'perfect' sphere? (I could be wrong but I don't think a 'perfect' sphere can be done in Subdiv 'Polygon', even with Pixar's OpenSubdiv, as it's not curvature-continous)

2. I can't help but thinking, since the input to a Subdiv NURBS is just a control cage, a set of control vertices, does it mean Alias could IMPORT Subdiv cages made previously in Maya or Modo to automatically get a model made of NURBS surfaces? (Output surface precision may change but let's ignore that)

Last but not least, you can import OBJ files from other software into Alias using File > Import > Subdiv and the control cage will generate a set of surfaces. As you correctly pointed out, there will be some slight deviation to what you may have had in other packages but you gain more than you lose

It is later revealed that Ryūko is the daughter of Sōichirō and Ragyō Kiryūin and the younger sister of Satsuki. Ryūko had supposedly died as a baby after Ragyō had attempted to fuse her body with Life Fibers, which was declared a failed experiment by Ragyō herself; however, Ragyō's experiment would later be revealed to be a success. Ryūko was later saved by her father, with her father faking her death and raising her under the alias of Isshin Matoi until his death at the hands of Nui Harime. Six months after Isshin's death, Ryūko transferred to Honnōji Academy.

Ryūko is a 17 year old girl of medium height. She has blue-black hair of medium length with a single left-swept red highlight on her bangs as well as blue eyes, which have peculiar gear-like pupils with eight grooves around the edges. Her outfit at the start of the series and Episode 25 is a white collared shirt with a red bow tie which is worn under a black & white varsity jacket with rolled-up sleeves, as well as a black skirt and white sneakers. During her childhood, she wore a red collared shirt with a white skirt and white shoes.

Baring her shoes, from Episode 1 until Episode 24, her clothing is later replaced by Senketsu, a living navy blue sailor uniform. Her shirt (Senketsu's upper jaw) is a dark navy sailor uniform with mid-length sleeves that bares her midriff. The collar has red stripes and is tied by a multicolored scarf that also serves as Senketsu's left eye. His right eye is covered by a black "eyepatch" with an X-shaped mark over it (perhaps emulating her father's right eyepatch). Her skirt (Senketsu's lower jaw) is held up by suspenders attached to a belt. Aikurō Mikisugi later provides her with a Seki Tekkō (赤手甲?, lit. "Red Gauntlet"), a red, fingerless, left-handed glove with a built-in syringe designed for Ryūko to conveniently draw blood and feed it to Senketsu.

Ryūko's appearance changes further when using Life Fiber Synchronize with Senketsu. Her hair becomes even more feathery and is accented with vibrant red undertones and horn-like clips. Senketsu himself also undergoes a significant change in appearance after Synchronization; his "eyes" extend into wing-shaped crests jutting out from Ryūko's shoulders and his upper and lower parts transform into a black, skimpy suit of armor with red stripes. The top section of the armor covers Ryūko's neck, lower-jaw, arms, and upper breasts, and possesses a red, triangular ventilation grill centered on Ryūko's upper back. The top armor piece is connected to her skirt by three red garter belt/suspenders (two in front, one in back), leaving everything between the underside of her breasts and her waist exposed. Her legs are covered with thigh-high boots with heels.

When Ryūko wears Senketsu Kisaragi, Senketsu's eyepatch is broken, revealing his hidden eye. His color scheme changes to reddish-orange and yellow, the headpiece becomes more elaborate like a rabbit's ears, yellow energy bands form a skirt that looks like jaws around Ryūko's waist, and her hair becomes blonde.

Ryūko has a relatively simple personality: fierce and stubborn. She fears little - she directly and disrespectfully addresses Satsuki Kiryūin, demanding that her questions be answered, and when she fights Takaharu Fukuroda even though she is clearly overpowered. Later on, she is shown to be quite embarrassed when forced to fight in Senketsu's very revealing alternate form, though she overcomes her embarrassment in Episode 3. Whilst she is not afraid of fighting to her death, she is somewhat self-conscious.

Ryūko is generally confident once she adjusts to using Senketsu. She's willing to try all sorts of unconventional and inventive methods to defeat opponents, seen in her battles with the Elite Four. Her confidence does occasionally backfire, as shown when she underestimates Uzu shortly after his eyes are sewn shut.

Even though most of the time she is seen stubborn and fierce, sometimes she can be calm, polite, content and warmly flattered. This is mostly seen when eating with the Mankanshoku family and Episode 7. She admires the way Mako's mother makes food and has kind manners. She later tells Senketsu how fun dinner was with them because of how her mother died when she was young and her dad sent her to a boarding school, never knowing how a family dinner was like. Her flattery is highlighted in Episode 1 when Mataro tried to steal Ryuko's wallet and mug her. She was cool with the intention of fighting, criticizing how street punking doesn't work for him and how goofy his gang was. After defeating them, she lets it slide by not fighting people who can't fight back. This is also seen with most opponents she faces when she often states the obvious.
