I must say I really enjoyed your article in today's National Post on pages
B1 and B3: "TAKE CARE, COLBERT!"


As a Letterman replacement, I, TOO, wonder if Colbert is going to SINK
or SWIM: I, suspect, moreover, THE WHOLE TALK SHOW ERA is pretty much
at an end.


Getting back to your article, to my mind, was THE *PERFECT* ARTICLE.


IMPECCABLE in every way if I may say: WELL CRAFTED, making EVERY WORD,
PARAGRAPH, IDEA COUNT!


A work of A TRUE CRAFTSMAN!


You CORRECTLY NOTED that Colbert has many facets (or faces) and this
raises THE QUESTION: where does that leave us with Colbert as a
replacement to Letterman.


You seem to suggest BEING GLIB, "BLISSFULLY UNINFORMATIVE" is THE
UNDERLYING NATURE of talk shows and that being the case Colbert
might do well as a Letterman replacement after all, but we have
to wait and see: I agree.


You ALSO raise SOME SERIOUS CONCERNS - I have - about the USA
regarding TRUTHFULNESS.


When I see the History Channel showing documentaries regarding
the existence of aliens involving people with PhD's *WITHOUT*
A DISCLAIMER that the information is presented is PURELY OF A
*SPECULATIVE* NATURE, I think this is BEING *DANGEROUSLY*
IRRESPONSIBLE INTELLECTUALLY, in my view, and makes for A
*DANGEROUS* NATION.


By the way, I really liked how you started you article about
"truthiness" and that Mr. Colbert did NOT invent the term -
though the Americans would like to claim it as their own. (Ha! Ha!)
THAT WAS THE HOOK that got me reading.
