Senior Awards: The Class of 2014 Senior Awards Ceremony was held on Wednesday, May 14th. It was a wonderful evening. We were able to celebrate many of the students' accomplishments. Of our 138 seniors: 119 received a gold cord (3.75 weighted GPA or higher), 71 received silver cords (250 hours or more of community service hours), 35 National Honor Society shawls, 89 students qualify for one of the Bright Futures scholarships, 64 students have won outside scholarships, and 39 students were recognized for their outstanding performance in ther academic or technical areas. To date, this years' scholarship dollars have a first year value of $694,753 and an overall cumulative value of $2,354,751. All in all we were able to acknowledge 130 of our 138 seniors. What a wonderful night!
Graduation Tickets - There have been a lot of questions about tickets for the graduation ceremony on June 4th. Following is a note from Ms. Goldman.
Each of the McFatter graduates are given 6 tickets. (All of the other Broward high schools only give out 4 per graduate.) If we have extra tickets, they will be given out at the graduation rehearsal. It is a good idea for students to ask one another.
As we have heard rumors, I would like to emphasize that there will be no selling or purchasing of spare tickets from one another. If you will not be using all of your tickets, you are welcome to share them with your fellow classmates, but you are not allowed to sell them!!!!!!!
Attached is the Stanley G. Tate Scholarship Recipient Form. I will be handing these out to all class of 2015 students who qualify for free or reduced lunch. If you think that you qualify for free or reduced lunch, but you have not applied, I encourage you to complete this application form and return it to me before the end of the school year.
The Broward Education Foundation has awards students Florida Prepaid, among other, scholarships. In order for a student to receive one of these scholarships they must be part of a mentoring program. By signing this form the students is indicating that they would like to participate in the mentoring program and possibly be eligible for a Florida Prepaid scholarship.
FIU is now accepting applications for their a Accounting Bridge Program. It is open to high school seniors and the deadline is June 16th. Forty students will be chosen to participate in this two day program For application and more information, go to htt[p://
