We are just a phone call or email away.

This week’s email is a bit shorter due to last week’s 2-day school week, but there is some new information included below.

National Achievers Society Application for Winter Induction

The Urban League of Broward County is pleased to announce the Atlantic Coast Center of Excellence is accepting applications for Winter Induction into the National Achievers Society.  The Winter Induction Service is scheduled for Saturday, December 16th, 2017.   The application deadline is Friday, December 1st, 2017.

The National Achievers Society is a prestigious National Honor Society, which recognizes students for their academic and cultural achievements.  Induction into the National Achievers Society brings nationwide attention to students who demonstrate excellence and provides opportunities for students to receive scholarships.

Membership in the National Achievers Society (formerly known as the Thurgood Marshall Achievers Society/McKnight Achievers) provides enrichment activities for students. The organization also provides opportunities for parents and other interested adults to stay involved in the student’s education.  The National Achievers Society helps to equip students to identify and meet the challenges of the 21st century.  Achievers and their parents have opportunities to participate in community service projects, literacy activities, field trips, academic competitions and a Leadership Conference held in Tampa or Orlando, Florida.

The Atlantic Coast Center of Excellence has inducted over 3,128 students into the National Achievers Society over the past fifteen years.  Students are recommended for Induction by their school principals, teachers, churches and community leaders.  The society emphasizes values, such as giving back to the community, the importance of studying and academic persistence and it encourages parents to become more engaged in their children’s education.  For the last fifteen years, hundreds of graduating Achievers have been awarded academic scholarships to colleges and universities throughout the United States.

Applications can be mailed or dropped off at the Urban League office, 560 NW 27th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311.  To answer any questions you might have, please feel free to contact Joanne Isaac @ 954-204-4321,
jis...@ulbcfl.org or at Dwr...@ulbcfl.org. Thank you in advance for your interest in the National Achievers Society.
