Mangalore, Dec 15:  A fifty-crore mega eco-housing project, which is sure to change the skyline of Mangalore, was launched on a 4.25-acre expanse of of green environs off NH 17 near Kadri Park in the city on Wednesday.

Says Shashi Kiran Shetty, chairman and managing director of SKS Netgate Pvt Ltd, the promoters, the project will be developed in accordance with eco-friendly standards set out by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

The skyscraper will adhere to the Silver Rating guidelines of the IGBC, the first rating programme developed in India exclusively for the residential sector. Eightynine per cent open space is the proud contribution of ‘planet sks’ to conservation.

The 375-foot-tall distinctive three-wing designer structure, once completed, will comprise as many as 184 three to four bedroom units with 412 covered car parks for the residents and 30 for the visitors. In a refreshing approach, ‘planet sks’ devotes nearly 38,000 sq ft toward clubhouse, health club, gymnasium and spa.

Among the project’s many exclusive features will be a rooftop helipad in Mangalore. The ‘planet sks’ were launched by Susheela Shetty, Leelavati Hegde and Vimala Shetty, all mothers of the directors of SKS Netgate Pvt Ltd.

“The project will be completed on schedule within 48 months. We are confident that ‘planet sks’, which offers an iconic address in Mangalore, will be embraced by Mangaloreans who have always taken to novel concepts with enthusiasm. ‘planet sks’ is an environment-friendly concept that will have an impact on the entire community,” S K Shetty said.

The ground plus 35-storied high-rise brings the state-of-the-art Mivan construction technology to Mangalore for the first time. This technology, according to Shetty, is used to achieve optimum construction quality and schedules.

“Through this revolutionary construction system, use of masonry is completely avoided. There is no plastering of walls either inside or outside. Mivan technology helps us achieve optimum quality and high speed of construction with cent per cent finishing. The resulting building structure is very strong, accurate in dimensions,” Shetty added.

‘planet sks’, merely 15 minutes drive from the Bajpe Airport and six kms away from Mangalore railway station, overlooks the Arabian Sea. Set in plantation ambience, ‘planet sks’ is situated near the sprawling Kadri Park. This unique addition to Mangalore’s profile is designed by renowned architect and director of SKS Netgate Pvt Ltd Sanath Kumar Shetty, also the winner of the ‘Best high-rise building Dakshina Kannada 2007’ award.

Other features of ‘planet sks’, apart from spacious and lavish apartments, include solariums with scintillating views, high ceiling with floor-to-floor height of 10’6”, 60-feet cantilever double height porch, cascading 30 feet high waterfall, extensive greenery with a mini forest and multi-purpose lawn, continuous security with failsafe surveillance system, Wi-Fi enabled complex with video door-phone at each residence, adequate backup power for every apartment, separate swimming pools for adults and kids, and five sophisticated intelligent elevators and 2 lifts from car parks.

Shetty further said ‘planet sks’ will have all-round facilities for the residents complete with prayer place, yoga and meditation pavilion, putting green for golf-lovers, library, club-house, health club, gymnasium for weight training and aerobics, resort spa with steam, sauna, Jacuzzi and a massage parlour, floodlit basketball court and tennis court, indoor squash court and indoor shuttle badminton court, indoor games arena with billiards, table tennis, carrom and chess, party hall and suites for guests, skating rink, playground and children’s park, and neighbourhood store and coffee shop.
