Hey GAD people, here's the scoop: I have decided to move back to USA. I'll be flying out December 18th, working remotely until the end of January 2013.
They are hiring my replacement now, and I'm lucky enough to be able to meet many of the potential candidates. There's some awesome people, some familiar to you and some new, that are turning up, so I'm thrilled to think of how you all are going to be challenged and inspired in 2013 and beyond.
I am going to miss you all, the first few pioneering generations of Games Art students from Murdoch - we've been through so much! I've really enjoyed watching you embrace your dreams and fight like mad ferrets to gain the skills, knowledge, and experience needed to make a go of this crazy industry.
I'm happy to say that my connection Murdoch will continue. I will remain an "Adjunct Professor", which means I'll be looking for opportunities to promote Murdoch and its students among my networks and connections in the USA, as well as returning annually for guest lectures, maybe a few special research collaborations, and generally maintaining a connection to Murdoch's Games Art and Design.
This is all happening pretty quick, but at least you'll have one chance to come to say farewell, and ask me some of the obvious questions.
And, just come to celebrate the end of the year! PLEASE bring your demos of any games you've been working on! I'm so sad I didn't get to come to the demo of MCC362's final projects - I'd love to see them!
This Thursday, 3pm, come to EH2.21 (that's the staff room on the 2nd floor of EH building, in the Education Department's turf).
If you can't make that, catch me on Linkedin (joshwhitkin), skype (joshwhite), or email (
jo...@wulumulu.com). Note that I generally use Facebook for personal stuff, not work connections as much, but if you are really keen to see my children's drawings and such, you can catch me there too (Josh Whitkin)
cheers-
-Josh
