FIELD TRIP:       Shorebirds from the Boardwalk

DATE:                  Sunday, March 5th, 2023

TIME:                   9:00 am to 11:00 am

LEADER:            Claudia Freitas

Trip is limited to 12 participants. Signups will be taken for 24 hours. 12 participants will be randomly selected. The remainder will be put on standby status in case of cancellations.

Enjoy a morning stroll along the Boardwalk with MCAS Field Trip leader Claudia Freitas to identify wintering shorebirds and migrants, as well as the land birds occupying the coastal sage scrub habitat. The retreating high tide should bring shorebirds closer for better observation. This is a short walk of about one mile on a boardwalk and dirt path.

Bring binoculars and field guide; Hats and sunscreen are suggested along with dressing for cool and windy conditions. Restrooms are available State Park campground and in the parking lot beside Bayside Cafe. Rain cancels.
