Dear student,

 

Greetings from Manasa,

We have received a lot of queries from students regarding some confusion about practical assignments,  validity of course and whether we are continuing with the course next year.

 

This mail is to answer these queries.

 

I  PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENTS

 

1. Some students are not clear regarding the practical assignment dates which have reached them with the book (SIM) & receipt
2. You need to complete 17 practical assignments.
3. You can come to Manasa, shimoga on the dates assigned to you.  When you are here, it will be our responsibility to provide you with cases, supervision and discussion necessary for the same.

 

If you need a change of dates/ the dates given to you are inconvenient, call up pushpa 9448288483 for a date change. YOUR REQUEST WILL BE ENTERTAINED ON BASIS OF AVAILABLE DATES.

 

If you CANNOT come to shimoga, there are 3 ways to complete your assignments

•  You can contact a registered practioner / psychiatrist/ psychologist with the format, get their permission & send us their resume.   We will clear it with the university & then you can work with him/ her
•  You can contact Spandana nursing home, Rajajinagar, Banglore individually & once they give you permission let us know.  We will  send them a letter thru Manasa Education Foundation authorizing you as a student of our institute.
•  You can wait upto end of April, when Manasa Educational foundation for mental health will round up all of you who have not yet completed your assignments and get a group permission for all at spandana nursing home, Bangalore & then you can complete your assignments there.

 

NOTE : At Manasa, you are not charged extra for the training. When you contact institutes elsewhere, you need to abide by their rules & regulations & maybe pay a fee as well.

 

WHAT IS THE SCOPE BEYOND THE COURSE ?

v  This course enables you to get an university recognized degree in counselling.

v  Just getting the degree will NOT equip you to start your  private practice.

v  If you need to work specifically in the area of counselling / are choosing this as your career option:

a)      You can intern with us – minimum of 10 days Max 6 months and procure an internship certificate, at the end of which you are more knowledge about practical aspects of handling a client.

v  You can intern with any psychotherapist / psychiatrist & geta certificate from them.

v  You can work in an RCI ( Rehabilitation Council of India) registered institute for a minimum of 5 years and apply for a legitimate RCI no

v  You can give your Phd,  Mphil exams in various universities & continue your education.

v  You can apply for government service crisis counselor posts

v  You can work as school / college counselors

v  You can keep a watch on our group mail where our old alumni will be posting employment avenues, which you can explore

 

WHETHER WE ARE DOING AWAY WITH THE COURSE ?

 

v  We sincerely hope not

v  The main aim behind starting this courses was to enable people who are committed to the cause  to get into the field of mental health.

v  Hence we would want all of you to work as torch bearers towards promoting mental health.

 

 

 

LASTLY CAN WE USE THE PRACTICAL TEST OUT SIDE ?

 

v  The tests given in the study material are strictly for educational purposes. You can use them independently without supervision ONLY after your internship.  This is to safeguard the interests of your client.

This means that 'one day assignment' at shimoga which was supposed to arranged on one of the sundays will not take place? Whole of the practical assignment can be done in bangalore itself?

I talked with the person (gopi 9448288488) regarding practical assignment. He tells there is no need to come at Manasa shimoga, for practicals & we can resume it at Spandana in b'lore itself for 3days. Just need to form a batch, decide dates, meet a concerned doctor at Spandana and inform the same at Shimoga..

I also called up and got the same response. But dont know they will speak tp spandana people or we all have to arrange for it!!

Hmm, luks like v must initiate it asap. So nxt mnth ie april is ok for al who r ready fr practicls hea in b'lr? or shud v make it May? And may 15th is d last day to submit asinemnts dey say. . til nw i got 5membrs who r ready fr b'lr. if ths strenth increases v can make early muv..

Finaly i got cal frm Dr Priti (9900495001). She tels ths is 1st tym tat they've got so many studnts who wan 2do practicls in b'lr. Dr. told me thr r 2cnsequencs nw, 1)v hav 2wait til april ends so tat they cn c who al din go 2shimoga can do it in bng along wit us 2)she wil talk wit Dr Srinivas at Spandana, tel abt us al n let they decide n fix a timetabl fr us. (it may hapn in last wk of ths mnth or 1st wk of may. acordingly they'l xtend our asignment submisions also)

Ma'm tld as vacation is goin on peopl involvd in academy r unavailabl, so she is bit bsy. Easy way 2contct her wil b thru mail n tld she'l get bck to me aftr 2days.. 

cons fr nt doin in shimoga is As Spandana has nthng to do wit Manasa they canot promise any suprvisor fr us asistin in practicls.
