Friends,

Many of us who are not from Psychology background are into Mental Health courses.  Going through Psychology books now would be time consuming and result in very limited availability of time to prepare for exams on actual subjects of study.

Psychology delivered in the form of Video lectures is available on Internet for FREE .

Watching TV serials of 30 minutes (effective 8-9 minutes, rest are advertisements) where the actor/actress takes a matchstick, turns around with background music in slow motion, strikes the matchstick to the box, and about to light the stove - frame freezes - episode will be over - and 30 valuable minutes are lost.  Instead, in the same duration of time, at liberty, in home environment, with pausing the videos, lectures can be viewed either online or viewed at a later time if saved/downloaded.

On routine and exhaustive search, I could find Video Lectures on General Psychology from University of California, Berkeley by Professor Kihlstrom.  25 lectures in total each lecture around 45 to 60 minutes.  After viewing the videos at random, it was found to be same as a classroom session/lecture, and felt the subject can be grasped better as they are in visual mode compared to reading a book at this juncture.

Following are the links of the lectures:

NOTE:
1. Advisable for people having unlimited download broadband connection.
2. Total size of download may cross 5 GB if saved as individual lectures.
3. Use speakers/headphones.
4. American English used.  Spelling variation can be encountered (example:  colour (British), color (US); oedema (British), edema (US); orthopaedics (British), orthopedics (US); etc.)
5. Student comments can be seen on same screen as the video.
6. Some parts of the lecture relates to US students as it is a recorded live lecture, just concentrate on what is needed for you.

For Downloaders:
{Note JAVA applet (autodownload) should be updated in the system that you are downloading.  Disable pop blocker, if using}
How to download these videos FREE?
Step-1:  Visit http://keepvid.com/
Step-2:  Copy and paste any of the above youtube url that you want to download in download window.  Click on download button.
Step-3:  After clicking the download button (update JAVA applet if needed), you get a series of links below in FLV, MP3, MP4, WebM, 3gp, etc.
Step-4:  Click on the format that you need and a "save file" window pops up.  Save on your local system for later use.
Step-5:  Repeat all the above steps for downloading remaining videos.

For playing the downloaded videos:
Use any player of your choice.  Alternatively you can use GOM Media Player from http://player.gomlab.com/eng/download/   This player is FREE and has an advantage over other players as it has autodownload of codecs needed for playing not only the downloaded videos, but almost all other formats of videos.

Hope this exercise helps non-Psychology students to understand the subject with ease in a shorter duration of time.

Please feel free to contact me at balaj...@gmail.com for clarifications, if any, on the above matter.  Your advise / objections / feedback is welcome.

With best regards,
