I am not sure how many school subscribe to Discovery education
streaming, but they had a few great short videos that ties really well
to unit 1. The first is called TLC Elementary School: Understanding
Government, the second is called TLC Elementary School: The Separation
of Powers. The first one showed some examples of what life would be
like without government, this helped the kids think before working on
that assignment. The second one was a great preview to federalism,
showing them real examples of federal government and state government
at work.

We used to have the Discovery Ed streaming, but we don't have it this
year. I really miss it! A few other fun videos that are just a few
minutes each are found on youtube under the title "Facts of
Congress". Three that we used this year are Branches of Government,
Checks and Balances, and How a Bill Becomes a Law. Kind of silly but
the kids liked them!
