I was not able to access the lesson videos in the 3rd grade social studies today.  Are they no longer available? Or do I need to do some figuring it out?

Thank you,

Rebecca

Also, I'm curious where Wayne County stands on the sixth and 7th grade social studies.

The 3rd grade video's should still work. I know they can be finicky though sometimes. Have you tried opening them in Firefox?

When you ask about where Wayne County stands, I can tell you from two perspectives. If you mean the county in general, we area all over. There are 34 school districts and 100 public school academies. They are doing everything from one end of the scale to the other. That's not uncommon in this county though. The one thing I can say with certainty is most follow the grade 6 West Hemisphere orientation and 7th grade is Eastern Hemisphere. Most are trying to integrate geography & history within their respective focus. In terms of the county stand on the MC3 curriculum switch in Grade 6 & 7, realistically, that boils down to me, a department of one. ;-) I think the suggested orientation they are moving towards makes a lot of sense. The curriculum design is a more pedagogically appropriate way to try and organize that much content. Having said all that, my instinct and experience tells me that while there is a lot of interest, I think that many people will not shift to it for a variety of reasons based on things like existing material allocation, staff teaching preferences, etc. You have to be reasonably nimble as a district or school to make the change with fidelity. I think that a lot of teachers will cherry-pick lessons and units they can use in their existing curricular orientation. Does this make sense? That wasn't too cynical?
