Hi (MC)^2!
I'm writing to let you know of something that may be of interest to mathematically minded students.
The 2014 North American Computational Linguistics Olympiad will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 10am to 1pm. It will be administered at Princeton University. It is open to high school and middle school students.
I've attached some past NACLO problems. As you can
see, these are all logic-based. (I like the Warlpiri Kinship Groups
problem in the .pdf because it is particularly mathematical. And also
because I wrote it. :D)
No knowledge of linguistics is necessary. In fact, no preparation is needed either. (In 2010, I took the exam completely unprepared and managed to do pretty well. I also had lots of fun.) Just show up with your problem solving skills!
