Welcome to Week 2 of our MC Support Team training. This announcement posting lists the agenda for this week of our course and outlines the specific learning tasks you’ll need to complete before the end of Monday, September 3rd.
This week, you'll be introduced to a customer-centric view of value. You’ll also learn how to “see” the current state of a business’s operations and begin to synthesize a path to an improved future state. You’ll also be introduced to the Kaizen method of tackling improvements. With all of us now familiar with the online forum environment, and with the weightier topics at hand, this will be a fantastic week!
To complete Week 2's learning, you must do the following:
· Read Chapter 3 of Lean For Dummies, “Seeing Value through the Eyes of the Customer” (pages 49-69).
· Complete the task outlined in WK 2 – 01 EXERCISE “Value-Add and Non-Value.” Also read and comment on the responses from other class members to this exercise topic.
· Read Chapter 4 of Lean For Dummies, “A Resource Runs through It: Value Stream Mapping” (pages 71-92).
· Complete the task outlined in WK 2 – 02 EXERCISE “Mapping a Value Stream.” Also read and comment on the responses from other class members to this exercise topic.
· Read Chapter 5 of Lean For Dummies, “Charting the Course: using Value Stream Maps” (pages 93-116).
· Complete the task outlined in WK 2 – 03 EXERCISE “Developing Improvements.” Also read and comment on the responses from other class members to this exercise topic.
· Read Chapter 6 of Lean For Dummies, “Flowing in the Right Direction: Lean Projects and Kaizen” (pages 117-132).
· Respond to WK 2 – 04 DISCUSSION “Kaizen.” Also read and respond to the responses from other class members to this discussion topic.
If at any point you have a question regarding the logistics or specifics of Week 2’s instruction or activities, simply post your question as a response to the WK 2 – Q&Athread in the forum.
