WK 3 – 00 AGENDA and Learning Tasks

Welcome to Week 3 of our MC Ops Ex Improvement Team training. This announcement posting lists the agenda for this week of our course and outlines the specific learning tasks you’ll need to complete before the end of Monday, September 10th.

This week, you'll learn how to use the tools involved in Ops Ex. These are the tools that we will begin using at MasterControl to make the improvements we’ve been discussing so far in our course.

To complete Week 3's learning, you must do the following:

·         Read Chapter 7 of Lean For Dummies, “Customer and Value Stream Tools” (pages 135-150).

·         Respond to WK 3 – 01 DISCUSSION “Applying Customer and Value Stream Tools at MasterControl.” Also read and respond to the responses from other class members to this discussion topic.

·         Read Chapter 8 of Lean For Dummies, “Flow and Pull Tools” (pages 151-168).

·         Respond to WK 3 – 02 DISCUSSION “Applying Flow and Pull Tools at MasterControl.” Also read and respond to the responses from other class members to this discussion topic.

·         Complete the task outlined in WK 3 – 03 EXERCISE “5S an Area of Your Work.” Also read and comment on the responses from the other class members to this exercise topic.

·         Read Chapter 9 of Lean For Dummies, “Perfection Tools” (pages 169-189).

·         Complete the task outlined in WK 3 – 04 EXERCISE “Creating Standard Work.” Also read and comment on the responses from other class members to this exercise topic.

·         Respond to WK 3 – 05 DISCUSSION “Visual Management.” Also read and respond to the responses from other class members to this discussion topic

·         Read Chapter 10 of Lean For Dummies, “Management Tools” (pages 191-208).

·         Respond to WK 3 – 06 DISCUSSION “Strategy Deployment.” Also read and respond to the responses from other class members to this discussion topic.

·         Complete the task outlined in WK 3 – 07 EXERCISE “Going to Gemba.” Also read and comment  on the responses from other class members to this exercise topic.

If at any point you have a question regarding the logistics or specifics of Week 3’s instruction or activities, simply post your question as a response to the WK 3 – Q&Athread in the forum.
