Extruders dragging on build plate

How do I stop the extruders from dragging and cutting into the build plate?

You need to level you build plate. Crank it all the way down, and slowly do a multipoint level (extruders on each four corners and center). Doing this over and over, this eventually becomes second nature and easy. The first few times you should use a piece of paper or business card(thicker stock paper) to make sure you have a good gap. That's assuming you don't have an auto-leveling mbot.

I have the screws tightened all the way down.  I even used pliers to tighten them even more and the extruders still drag.
