'Fight Hunger: Walk the World' Charity Walking

联合国世界粮食计划署是全球最大的人道主义救援机构，平均每年救助80多个国家数以千
万计的贫困人口。消除贫困，结束儿童饥饿现象，是我们工作的重中之
重。
The United Nations World Food Programme is the largest humanitarian
relief agency in the world, feeding 90 million poor people in more
than 80 countries every year. Eliminating poverty and ending hunger is
the number one Millennium Development Goal.
为了使全球更多饥饿的孩子能够走进学校、接受教育，进而帮助他们及其家庭摆脱贫困的
恶性循环，联合国世界粮食计划署早在四十年前就开始在全球范围内实施
学校供膳项目--即通过给在校贫困家庭的儿童提供每天一顿的营养餐，鼓励家长送子女到
学校接受教育。实践证明这一援助手段大大提高了贫困儿童入学率和学
习表现。
One of the main reasons poor children don't go to school is because
they're hungry. Increasing school education and boosting nutrition is
one of the keys to breaking the cycle of poverty. For more than 40
years, WFP has provided free school lunches as an incentive for the
children of poor families to go to school. School Feeding has been
shown to improve the cognitive learning capacity of children, increase
children's school enrolment and attendance.
为让社会各界人士更多了解和关注儿童饥饿现象，并为其全球学校供膳项目筹措善款，联
合国世界粮食计划署于2003年首先在中国的长城发起了每年一度
的"向饥饿宣战-行走天地间"慈善义走活动。经过三年的努力，这一活动已经壮大为一个每
年一度在全世界24个时区同步进行的国际性慈善活动。2006
年，近80万人在118个国家420个城市共同行走，为结束儿童饥饿现象而呼吁并慷慨捐款。
去年所筹得的所有善款可以为10万名儿童提供一年的学校膳
食。
To increase public awareness of child hunger and to raise funds to
finance projects assisting hungry children, 'Fight Hunger: Walk the
World' was initiated in 2003 at the Great Wall. Over the past 3 years
this event has been expanded to a global activity, which covers 24
time zones. In 2006 nearly 800,000 people participated in 420 cities
of 118 countries raising awareness and enough funds to feed over
100,000 children meals for one school year.
今年，我们希望尽我们的力量，进一步扩大"向饥饿宣战 - 行走天地间"慈善义走活动在中
国的影响，帮助更多中国贫困地区的儿童摆脱饥饿，接受教育。5
月13日星期日上午十点半，来自联合国世界粮食计划署及联合国驻华系统工作人员、中国
政府官员、北京高校及国际学校的师生、企业界合作伙伴、媒体代表上
千人将在北京世界公园，作为中国地区的代表加入这项在全球同步举行的活动。
This year we are doing our best to expand 'Fight Hunger: Walk the
World' in China, to help more poor children into school and out of
hunger. On 13th, May 10:30 AM, we aim to see 1,000 people from UN
World Food Programme, TNT, the UN system in China, Chinese government,
universities, international schools, corporations and the media gather
at Beijing World Park to represent China in this global activity.
我们的援助项目实践中，每天1.5元或每年263元您就可为一个儿童提供一顿学校用膳，点
亮明天的希望。 没有什么比投资到儿童的身心健康上更值得，回

It costs just 19 Cents a Day or $34 a year, to give a child a daily
meal at school and the chance for a brighter future. Nothing is more
worthwhile and important than investing on the health of children. We

Hunger.
