Hello,
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable

as said in an earlier message, I am pretty new to all of this ecosystem.

I fetch my mails via fdm (I could have used isync also).
Then I am running minc command (is that ok ?).
Then mlist is entering the dance followed by some mscan stuff.

I then have my mails. I use mshow to show me some content and then mark it =
manually as seen via mflag.
Eventually I would mflag -ST more stuff.

But then, trashed mails reappear in the mscan with an 'x' (dunno how to tra=
sh it for good but that's another story).

I can also mrep or mcom (now).

Does it feel normal mblaze usage ? Is there any way to "optimize" this ? An=
y *hacks* to share with me ?

My mblaze trip is just starting but as far as I can see, I love it.

Thank you.
- Xavier

Dear Xavier,

I'm happy to see some activity on the mblaze googlegroup this Christmas morning!

I also have come to love the program and can only tell you how I (mis)use it!

About ten years ago I began using linux(either Ubuntu or Debian) with mutt for email until about three years ago I started trying GhostBSD/FreeBSD/OpenBSD mainly out of curiosity and ended up liking them, though the start wasn't easy.

Then, after switching from mutt for email to mblaze, I also used mblaze-tools (https://github.com/haqistan/mblaze-tools/). Mblaze-tools, while I find it quite helpful, works best with tmux on OpenBSD, though I am using it successfully with tmux on FreeBSD 14.2-RELEASE.

Although I fetch my mail with offlineimap, the author of mblaze-tools uses fdm as you do. Mblaze-tools, if you can set it up on your system, simplifies for me many of the ordinary tasks of accessing, reading, composing, answering and sending emails. I also use vim as my editor. So, in conclusion, it might be worth checking out mblaze-tools. It would be important to study the README that comes with it carefully to see whether it can be used satisfactorily with your own system.

Also, although I also started using fdm to help organize my already downloaded mail, I have failed to keep up with maintenance, e.g., unsubscribing from many unneeded emails, and now have about 6,600 emails in my inbox! However, the wonderful thing about mblaze is its speed and it is still fast in spite of the overloaded inbox!

Hopefully, I have put down something useful! I wish you success!

Hello,
MIME-Version: 1.0

Thank you for welcoming me :)
I've checked mblaze-tools but it is kinda difficult for me as I am not usin=
g BSD or tmux.
I am on a MacOS system running wezterm (thus using wezterm as my tmux as we=
ll).

I think the simple thing to do for me is either to alias or to convert to s=
cripts some of my frequent calls.

For example, I tend to run to many pipe. I discovered also that mpick could=
be passed to mseq so I can, for example,
restrict to some filter mails to work (kinda awesome !).

I think fdm is too much for me as I am not using it to filter or anything e=
lse. I am a one-folder guy (eventually with a spam folder and an archive).
Plus fdm is buggy as hell with my icloud domain, dunno why.

As for the rest, I was a long long time slackware GNU/linux user who got ag=
ed at some point.
My editor of choice is Ed (I was a heavy GNU/emacs user but eventually, was=
procrastinating configuring it all day long).

Voil=C3=A0, you know me a little bit more :)

Cheers and merry christmas.

Dear Xavier,

You know yourself and what you have been using and what is likely to work for you. I just decided to share my own way. Few people use "the BSD's". I have never used a Mac, and I understand that vim and emacs(which I guess you no longer use) are also quite different. Hopefully, you will develop your own scripts to help with the use of mblaze.

In any case, I wish you success!

John

there.
AFAICS, I really love mblaze. Reminds me of my old nmh time.

All the mblaze mechanics is really astonishing.
