Everything thing has been perfect with the 2 doors for over 14 years. Today the left door wouldn't close.  The right door closed fine as usual. There seems to be a hook-like
gizmo where the door should hit and shut.  Well in trying to find out what's the deal I managed to move the item all the way back and now the item won't come up or down. So the door won't close regardless of what I do. I tinkered with the right door and, of course, managed to to get that hook thing screwed up too. I now have matching no-close doors. I live in Midlothian, about 25 miles south of Dallas. Anybody have any ideas how to fix this? Or have or know of a reputable independent mechanic in the area that would fix this?

If you can't find a way to reset the each of the  latches using a screwdriver up against the door latch while pulling the handle...the repair goes something close to the following.

The handle with lock set can be removed.  First by removing the retaining screw hidden under the door rubber weather seal to the strike side in line with the exterior handle trim.

Then insert key turn and hold while lifting the handle at rear until door handle at rear of trim separates and lifts just clear of the door body.  Then pull rearward to unseat the handle nose from under the front retainer bolt which you don't need to fuss with.  Watch your paint trim is not scratched when pulling rearward. and upon reinstall.

You can then reset the door strike and reinsert the linkage to the latch and test.
