F&F Hike Social This Saturday Morning 10/17 at Great Falls Park, Virginia

Dear Friends,

One benefit of arranging a hike at such short notice is much greater confidence about the weather. 

• This is a great time, with the fall colors expected to approach their peak!
  

The park address is 9200 Old Dominion Drive. with the entrance at Georgetown Pike and Old Dominion Drive. See

Let's meet at Great Falls Park, Virginia side, 

• at 8:05 am, 
• at the Falls Overlook #3, farthest downstream, next to the 12-foot post with the record flood levels recorded on it. 
• The reason for starting early is that there are 
• long lines to get into the park at later times, on sunny weekend days at this time of year.

Alternatively, meet and carpool from the Great Falls Shopping Center at

• 9863 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, VA 22066-2617,

• It's at the SE corner of Walker and Georgetown Pike (Great Falls' only traffic light!)
• I'll be at the Starbucks from 7:30 to 7:50. 
• Leaving at 7:50 will give us time to get to the meeting-up location in the park by 8:05. 
• Car pooling will save you on the new $10 per vehicle entrance fee.
  

It will be sunny, but a little cold. Sunrise is at 7:20 am. The hike is easy, and should take less than 2 hours, including photo ops. Plenty of great longer hikes are available afterwards,  but we'll stay together to start, and hike downriver along the bank, and back along the canal.
