        F&F Study Series
        The Incomparable Christ
        by John Stott
        Session 7, Biographies part 2

Our new book study series will continue through August 16.

Paul Dorosh is our teacher. He has previously led us in other successful summer series.

This week's reading assignment in John Stott's book is about 19 pages!

Part III: The Influential Jesus (or How He Has Inspired People)
        7. The Cross: Toyohiko Kagawa
        8. The Resurrection: Joni Eareckson Tada
        Famous!
        9. The Exaltation: Henry Martyn
        My fellow-wrangler at Cambridge!
Our daily prayer meetings were in the Henry Martyn Hall
        10. The Gift of the Spirit: Roland Allen
I have two books by him!
        11. The Second Coming: Anthony Ashley Cooper
        12. The Last Judgment: William Wilberforce
The 2006 movie Amazing Grace was about him
Conclusion: The Radical Nature of Christ's Influence

Stott states in his introduction to Part III
        • Christianity (though not Christ personally) has had a bad as well as a good influence
        • Jesus Christ has had an enormous influence for good
        • Different Christians have been influenced by different aspects of Christ
Since the homework is only 19 pages, you may want to get ahead by reading Part IV and Revelation!

You will benefit more from the series if you get the book, but it's not essential
        • The paperback lists at $20; as announced, it's worth about $150!
        • I bought 46 in all
        • The remaining 5 are still on sale at class at my price
        • Cash only, please, $12 to me or Rohini.
        • Or you can buy locally or online, new or used, or borrow from a library
        • The Kindle version is $10.49 at Amazon.com
        • The ebook is $9.99 at christianbook.com
Incidentally, your book payment will benefit the world! In the postscript of his book Radical Christian (2009) Stott writes
Of course, there are millions of our sisters and brothers in Christ around the world who would dearly love to have books to read to help them grow in their discipleship. Yet they have almost none, while we in the West have more than anybody can read. That is why I have assigned the royalties of all my own books to the work of Langham Literature, to enable more believers and their pastors in poorer parts of the world to obtain good Christian books both in English and in their own languages, and so be strengthened in their faith and their preaching.

Paul's handouts, once available, are accessible at

        F&F on Facebook

        • Challenges, events, scriptures, news
        • Pictures from our socials and from the Washington Prayer Gathering, etc.
This is a place where we can
        • encourage each other online
        • request prayer
        • pass on texts, links, pictures and videos that have blessed us.
        • announce activities
Shevon Johnson is leading this part of our ministry
        • A lot of us are active contributors
        • "Friend" and follow us!
        Citywide at 5:30
        Missions Around the World

Have you ever wondered what your role should be in serving others and sharing Christ around the globe?
        • Is God asking you to go on a short term missions trip or even to become a missionary?
        • How would you even go about that?
        • On Sunday, you will get a chance to hear from some of our overseas missionary partners
          • and learn how they are serving the Lord.
        • You will be challenged and given opportunities to serve both locally and globally.
