          F&F Study Series
          The Incomparable Christ
          by John Stott
          Session 9, Revelation part 2

Our book study series will finish this Sunday, August 16.

Paul Dorosh is our teacher. He has previously led us in other successful summer series. Please express your appreciation!

This week's reading assignment in John Stott's book is long, about 49 pages!
          • I'm almost finished!
          • Rohini and I are also going through Revelation, chapters 6-22, together
          • Great stuff!
          Here are the book's headings

Part IV: The Eternal Jesus (or How He Challenges Us Today)
          4. Christ Controlling the Course of History (Rev. 6--7)
          5. Christ Calling the World to Repentance (Rev. 8--11)
          6. Christ Overcoming the Devil and His Allies (Rev. 12--13)
          7. Christ Standing on Mt. Zion with His Redeemed People (Rev. 14:1--15:4)
          8. Christ Coming Like a Thief in the Night (Rev. 15:5--19:10)
          9. Christ Riding in Triumph on a White Horse (Rev. 19:11--20:15)
          10. Christ Coming as the Bridegroom to Claim His Bride (Rev. 21--22)
          Epilogue (Rev. 22:6-21)
Conclusion: One Book in Four Parts

Stott states in his introduction to Part IV
          • Revelation contains a gallery of pictures of Jesus Christ
          • My plan is to concentrate on the ten most striking Christological visions
Stott also lists four theories of interpretation, which Paul Dorosh described as
          • ‘preterist’ view: the book focuses on “events of the early centuries AD, especially the overthrow of the Roman empire”
          • ‘historicist’ view: focus is on “the whole period between the first and second comings of Christ”
          • ‘futurist’ view: most of the book focuses on events immediately before the Second Coming
          • ‘parallelist’ view: Revelation describes a series of visions that do not happen consecutively.
MBC's official view is futurist. Stott's is parallelist. Be warned!

The paperback lists at $20; as announced, it's worth about $150!
          • I bought 46 in all
          • The remaining 3 are still on sale at class at my price
