Upcoming Social - Sunday May 31 - Hike at Wolf Trap National Park, straight after class
Past Socials
  • On Sunday, September 7, we had 57 people at a potluck lunch in our classroom immediately following our study
  • On Saturday, October 4, about 20 current and former members enjoyed a Potluck Dinner and Movie Night with the singles ministries, at the Tysons campus
  • On Columbus Day, Monday, October 13, at least 60 current and former members joined thousands of others at the Lincoln Memorial for the Washington Prayer Gathering
  • On Thanksgiving Day, 39 class members and guests enjoyed great food, fellowship, and music, at a potluck at Glenn and Rhonda Collier's home
  • Many of us performed in or attended the December 15-16 Joy Concert with Keith and Kristyn Getty
  • On Sunday, December 21, we had 50 people at our Christmas party after class
  • Our lunch social on February 22 was canceled due to the snow!
  • On Saturday March 29, about 20 of us enjoyed a Potluck Dinner and the Movie Antwone Fisher, with other MBC ministries
  • On Wednesday, April 22, about a hundred of us enjoyed a wonderful lecture, Why Suffering? by Ravi Zacharias, either at Tysons or online. I saw about 40 of them! Not a social, but we could socialize before and after.

Wilfred Ju is the lead teacher for this series.
  • We've prayed for the sale of their former home in Florida
  • The closing is next weekend - pray that it goes through!
  • Glenn Collier will our substitute teacher for the final 2 lessons on June 7-14
Title of Series:  Discovering GOD Through The Old Testament

Purpose: Through studying portions of the Old Testament, we will seek to understand what GOD says about Himself.

Goal: Understand who GOD is, so we can: 
  • Glorify Him in our worship, in our prayer, and in our life
  • Seek to become more like Him by becoming more like Jesus Christ
Session 7:  The Messianic Prophecies

Suggested Homework
  • Wilfred hasn't yet assigned any homework!
  • In his last two lessons on the Holy Spirit, he asked us to 
    • Read passages
    • Share what we learn
    • Share what God is telling us to do - the "So What?"
  • Try that with these messianic prophecies of a King
    • Isaiah 9:6-7
    • Isaiah 11:1-10
    • Zechariah 9:9
    • Psalm 110:1-4
  • And with these messianic prophecies of a sufferer, finally exalted
    • Isaiah 52:13-53:12
    • Psalm 22 (note verses 1, 7-8, 16, 18, 26-31)
    • Zechariah 12:10  The one they pierced
  • And with these NT passages
    • Luke 24:27  And beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, 
      • He explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
    • Luke 24:44  These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, 
      • that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled
  • If you have Bible software, search the gospels for the ford "fulfilled"

Colt McCoy

At Citywide this week, we will be welcoming Colt McCoy, quarterback of the Washington Redskins!

Colt graduated from the University of Texas as the winningest quarterback in college football history
  • Due to an injury wasn't able to play in his final game as a college athlete. 
He will share how Jesus Christ has worked in his life 
  • through times of trials as well as success 
  • and how you answer the tough question, 
    • Why me? 
We will also get to hear from the Children of the World Choir!

The MBC Womens Ministry has an event coming up, and they need Men to volunteer.
Friday, June 12 at 6:50 pm in the MBC Tysons Smith Center.

Task: Serving during the After Party (Girls Night Out)
Minimum # of volunteers: 25
  • Serve the ladies with trays of drinks or appetizers. 
  • Refill the trays.
Site: Room 1208 (near Smith Center)
Arrival Time: 6:50 pm Friday 6/12/15
Dress Code: Black shirt and black pants.
