          F&F Study Series
          The Incomparable Christ
          Session 2: Paul's letters

Our new book study series will continue through August 16.

Paul Dorosh is our teacher. He has previously led us in other successful summer series.

Your reading assignment for this week is about 25 pages:

Part I: The Original Jesus (or How the New Testament Witnesses to Him)
          6. Jesus and Paul
          The Thirteen Letters of Paul
          7. A Polemical Letter (Galatians): Christ the Liberator
          8. The Early Letters (1 & 2 Thessalonians): Christ the Coming Judge
          9. The Major Letters (Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians): Christ the Savior
          10. The Prison Letters (Ephesians, Colossians, Philemon and Philippians): Christ the Supreme Lord
          11. The Pastoral Letters (1 Timothy, Titus and 2 Timothy): Christ the Head of the Church

John Stott was invited to present the A.D. 2000 London Lectures on Contemporary Christianity.
          • The four lectures he gave each last about 90 minutes
          • This book is an expanded version.
Stott (1921-2011) was an outstanding evangelical leader in Britain and worldwide
          • See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Stott
          • He was a regular and popular speaker at the Cambridge University Christian Union while I was there in the 1960's
          • I only once attended his church, All Souls, Langham Place, where these lectures were presented
You will benefit more from the series if you get the book, but it's not essential
          • The paperback lists at $20.
          • I've now bought 46
          • The remaining 16 are on sale at class
          • Cash only, please, $12 or $13 to me or Rohini.
          • Or you can buy locally or online, new or used, or borrow from a library
          • The Kindle version is $10:49 at Amazon.com
          • The ebook is $9.99 at christianbook.com
Incidentally, your book payment will benefit the world! In the postscript of his book Radical Christian (2009) Stott writes
Of course, there are millions of our sisters and brothers in Christ around the world who would dearly love to have books to read to help them grow in their discipleship. Yet they have almost none, while we in the West have more than anybody can read. That is why I have assigned the royalties of all my own books to the work of Langham Literature, to enable more believers and their pastors in poorer parts of the world to obtain good Christian books both in English and in their own languages, and so be strengthened in their faith and their preaching.

Paul's handouts, once available, are accessible at

          F&F on Facebook

          • Challenges, events, scriptures, news
          • Pictures from our socials and from the Washington Prayer Gathering, etc.
This is a place where we can
          • encourage each other online
          • request prayer
          • pass on texts, links, pictures and videos that have blessed us.
          • announce activities
Shevon Johnson is leading this part of our ministry

          Blurred Lines

This Sunday, June 28, Citywide will begin a new series

          • Blurred Lines will address topics such as gender identity, equality and biblical sexuality.
          • We will take a look at issues surrounding sexuality that are impacting our world and culture today;
            • issues like homosexuality, pornography, and biblical sexuality.
          • As culture's view of these topics change and evolve
            • we will center our discussions on what the Bible says
            • and how the Church should respond.
          • Gender identity, equality, and sex are the topics of conversations today
            • as our opinions of sexuality are challenged
            • how should we respond?

          June 28: Dr. Christopher Yuan

          • Dr. Yuan will share a biblical view of sexuality through the narrative of
            • his personal transformation from an agnostic gay man to a Bible professor.
          • Not only did God turn his unbelief into belief,
            • but God also freed him from the bondage of drugs and promiscuity.
          • This inspirational story of redemption and grace transcends the topic of sexual identity
            • touching on issues such as drug addiction, promiscuity, incarceration and HIV.

Last week I promised this Blurred Lines intro:

June 21: Nate Keeler, MBC Arlington Campus Pastor

          • Nate will share his personal testimony of overcoming pornography and define Biblical sexuality.

That program was postponed after the bulletins were prepared and published, for:

June 21:  Panel on the Charleston Shooting and Racism
          • Citywide DC pastors talk about racial challenges in America,
            • desegregating our personal and family lives
            • and how we can make a positive difference.
          For the updated schedule, see
For videos of all the past programs, see

We hope to see you this Sunday in class!
