Dear Friends,

Sugarloaf Mountain is off Interstate 270, NW from Germantown, MD. It's a privately held recreation area.
Marylanders and others, perhaps those in the western Virginia suburbs can optionally
  • join us at the restaurant
  • join us at the West View Parking on the mountain.
Here's the plan and schedule

Saturday, June 1
  • rain date June 8 - but the current forecast is Sunny, maximum 90
10:45am leave Tysons campus upper lot
  • outside worship center, car-pooling
11:30am meet inside Ruby Tuesdays at 19800 Century Blvd., Germantown for an early lunch.
  • Germantown Road SW exit from 270, 1 mile
  • Right on Middlebrook and it's on the right

12:30pm leave Ruby Tuesdays, car pooling to park entrance
  • The park entrance is at 7901 Comus Rd Dickerson, MD 20842
  • Directions from Ruby Tuesdays
    • SW on Century Blvd to Middlebrook Road 59 ft
    • 1st right onto Middlebrook Road 0.4 mi   
    • Take the 3rd right onto Father Hurley Blvd 1.2 mi
    • Merge onto I-270 N via the ramp to Frederick 6.9 mi
    • Take exit 22 toward Barnesville 0.2 mi
    • Merge onto MD-109 S/Old Hundred Rd 2.9 mi
    • Turn right onto MD-95/Comus Rd 2.4 mi
    • Destination will be on the right

  • Directions from Leesburg to the park entrance
    • US-15 N into Maryland 11 miles
    • R onto MD-28 E/Clay St 4.7 mi
    • R onto MD-28 E/Dickerson Rd 3.7 mi
    • L onto Mt Ephraim Rd 2.4 mi
    • Becomes Sugarloaf Mountain Rd 0.5 mi
    • L onto Comus Rd; entrance on the right 33 ft

From the park entrance drive on the one-way road to West View Parking
  • 1.5 miles to East View Parking.
  • 0.3 mile to Y junction.
  • Turn right to get to West View Parking
1:00pm Meet at West View Parking on the mountain
  • Take the Green Trail to the summit (0.3 miles, 300 feet up, easy steps)
2:00pm Choose a way down or what to do next.

This is a reminder.
  • We'll see you at Tysons, Ruby Tuesday, or the mountain
  • Forecast - Increasing clouds, with a high near 89. Southwest wind 8 to 13 mph.
  • Hot - bring water.
  • There are toilets at the parking lots, as indicated on the map.
