Yea, the subject might drive a lot of people off.

I know that the Source code for Tele-Arena might be a sore subject it
a lot of groups. You get 200 jackasses asking you to send them the
source code so they can modify the game.....

This isnt one of those posts. Im not asking anyone to do anything
illegal. I'm just looking for some information.

Lets just say for a moment that i already had the source code, and i
wanted to try my hand at modifying the game.

How do i build the code? what do i use to build it? Is there some
major bbs developers package i need or something?

Maybe i just dont know enough about building source, but it sure seems
like i'm missing some essential tools.

I have built a lot of code on Linux/Unix, but to be honest, i dont
even know what tools i need to build on Windows.

Thanks in advance for any info.

The source code you have is an unofficial code base that was leaked by a
guy from Vircom. They had no right to release it, and were the only
ones with a partial source license - it's not complete, what you have,
and it's no good.

And I would greatly appreciate it if you left it alone. I hold the
copyright to that game.

Most of the MBBS / WG Source is able to be compiled if you have the
developer kit, however Telearena put a compiled file that only the
programmer had the source to, and imbedded your activation code in. so
this made it nearly imposible to use the source on other systems
without the KEY FILE.

You hold the copyright?
If thats the case, is it possible to legally obtain the game anymore?

The BBS i run is still on WG 2.0 under DOS, are these modules meant for the newer WG3 systems, or will they run on my bbs?

You wouldnt by chance have a web site, or newsletter devoted to updates on the progress would you?

yep, it was a library that was linked in on compile
that had your license codes in it. a compiled game
will only work on the system it was licensed to.
otherwise it wouldn't even load.
