Hey mates,
Just following up on Yong's comment, I am also sorry for the length of
my FQ. There is a lot to mention in my question and I didn't want to
skimp, even if we may just get one question on the exam that asks,
which of the following arent relevant CF treatments.
But if it helps, one way to think of treating cystic fibrosis, is in
acute management of chronically recurring symptoms, such as infections
or constant digestion problems. So you treat those things when they
come up. As well as this, you also worry about future prevention or
attempting to decrease the down-time involved with being sick or out
of sorts. So lots of allied health care is involved.
Also, the breathing part is so key to quality of life, but
physiotherapy, good nutrition, and exercise all help with this aspect.
Finally, research to 'cure' CF is ongoing, so these treatments will
change over time anyway. Drugs can only do so much, but I included all
the many ways medication seeks to alleviate a problem in a person with
CF.
See you all tomorrow,
Simon
