Hey Committee!

So...there were a few things I wanted to say to you...but I forgot some of them! I'll email them as I remember them. For now, I wanted some suggestions on tomorrow's Mask-Decorating Social. There's a slight problem...so I ordered masks over Halloween weekend, but they are not here yet -__- Without masks, how will we have a mask-decorating social? At least we should have pizookies...and possibly karaoke! <-- (Drew, if you get this email before I call you, can you please message me?) But anyways, I don't want to break tradition or anything...and there is a possibility that the masks might get here tomorrow (exactly). Does anyone have ideas of what else we could do to make this social just as epic?! We could decorate other things and do other crafts :P

Hey Committee,

  • Thank Yous for partners and sponsors
    • For a similar (smaller scale of course) event that I took part in once, our committee got together and painted a giant "Thank You ______ (insert name of sponsor)" sign. We all posed in front of it in a group photo, printed out the picture,  attached it to a thank you card, and mailed it the respective sponsor.
  • Centerpieces?
    • I know someone was hinting at the idea for a while.
  • Reminders
    • Perhaps having a few interesting statistics on table placards about the different things PTP has done (programs that it hosts, amount of money raised each yeah, maybe even the total money raised through MB, etc.)

Yeah, I might just have a work party. I just checked the shipping order, and it said that the masks won't get here until 11/11, and ResLife isn't open on Veteran's Day, I think...so I wouldn't even be able to pick them up until Friday. Nooooo T____T

I'll figure out other fun crafts and things to do, if you guys are okay with that <3

LOL, oh wait this might be a terrible idea, but what if I had a Mask-Decorating Social on Saturday afternoon...? Of course, I would need to find a location to hold it, but I know I would get the masks by then, for sure! The pizookie thing would still happen tomorrow, but there are other work things to get done. Also, do you think people would still come to the social if there weren't masks to decorate and if there was other decorating work to be done?

hey stef,

do u plan on having a mandatory volunteer meeting on friday? if you do, maybe you can have the mask-making social before that?  i feel like you may want to reserve saturday to get everything ready for mball and in case anything last minute comes up.  you already have a lot on your mind that day.

and i dont know how tight you are with other tasks but if you feel that a workday would be best or there's just not enough time to fit in a mask-making social, you can just not have it.  having it just for tradition sake should not be a main reason to have it if it is.  keep in mind that the masks can be used next year if it comes down to it.

The mandatory volunteer meeting will be on Thursday, because I have work on Friday. Everything should be ready by Thursday (that's my Saturday), and I have a guest coming over Friday, so I'm pretty motivated to finish everything before Saturday. Of course, I'll be flexible about it. I don't mind having a social or not having a social. I guess I'm just asking you guys what you want :] It's up to you! I'm just excited that so many people signed up to go, and I want to have a mid-week destresser before M-Ball for everyone. For a lot of the decorations, I can honestly do it myself...like spray-painting doilies and putting stuff in fish bowls...I don't need a workday for it. Might need help making signs, though!

Personally I'm meeting up with a couple people during the workday time to figure out the photo backdrop. The others can help add ideas too if they want. If we figure out enough things we can maybe start working on it before the workday time slot is over.

Also for decorations we should still have the committee work on them. More service planning hours to go around + less work for you. So i'd keep it and end early if necessary.
