I would add a personal example in this scenario,
I was blessed with my first son during 1990.My next door neighbours were Pathan having very good family terms with us.Their both daughters came to me very pleased and asked
Uncle aap ne Munnay ka naam kya rakha hai.
Main ne kisi mood main keh diya munnay ka naam ham ne Khaista Gul rakha hai.
Both the girls went back their home cheerfully by saying that uncle ne munnay ka naam Pashto main rakha hai.
After some time I received a call from the father of the girls,he was asking
Husnat Bhai munnay ki paidaish kis din hui hai,main ne kaha ke Peer ko,He immediately advised me to re name the baby as Peer khan so that the Pathan thiking is exercised in true letter and spirit.

In Arab world, as an honour, father is also pronounced with eldest son's name, therefore, Syed Hasnat Sahib also happens to be 'Abu Peer Khan'
