“the size of the rural Indian market is estimated to reach
US$577 billion in twenty years, which is larger than the total consumer markets in countries
such as South Korea or Canada, and is almost four times the size of the urban Indian market
today. This means that businesses can no longer ignore rural markets and “going rural” is not
just an option but a business necessity for businesses operating in India”.
