Dear AIESEC Chandigarh,

I hope you all are doing good. Well, I must say, November-December has been very exciting for the local chapter. From LCP Elections, to EB Selections, to exams and to preparation for 3 awesome events, it has been a roller coaster ride for the LC, and for myself as well. This mail would talk about happenings in local chapter, my thoughts & feelings on the same. Do listen to good music while reading this mail, though I would prefer this song, as this songs describe how I feel right now & would want you to feel the same.

"Get the right people on the bus, and the right people in the right seats.”

On 17th November 2013, AIESEC Chandigarh witnessed six brave individuals stepping up & showing the purest of intent, strongest of vision for the most prestigious post of Local Committee President of AIESEC Chandigarh. We were mesmerized, we were amazed, we were inspired. and by the end of the day we had our 26th Local Committee President. Congratulations Pranav Lakherwal, and welcome to the league of extraordinary men. Congratulations Abhijeet, Abhinav, Alok, Karan & Vidur for coming out so strong, for sharing your vision, your thoughts with the local chapter & showcasing selfless leadership. and most importantly, thank you AIESEC Chandigarh, you are the true winners, by being mature & pure general body. Thank you for helping us in having a smooth election process, & showcasing ethical leadership throughout the election process.

A lot of people asked me post elections 'How do I feel, now that I have a successor?'. For me the day was witnessing AIESEC in its purest sense. The selfless ethical leadership, the understanding of bigger picture & a passion to take it forward, the intent to be challenged & to challenge, the strong purpose of taking leadership forward. Each and every word of our bible 'AIESEC Way' was portrayed in the most beautiful way by these 6 people, in manifestos & during presentations. I hope one day, all of you get an opportunity, to live a Selfless Leadership experience.

One word that defines an executive board is, Responsibility. Responsibility of people, responsibility of brand, responsibility of experiences & more than that responsibility of the local chapter. After 5 days, 31 interviews, 12 crazy individuals who showed a strong sense of leadership & intent, emerged as Vice Presidents for AIESEC Chandigarh 2014. Congratulations to the team, the responsibility now lies on your shoulders. We all hope under your leadership, AIESEC Chandigarh would become Invincible.

Thank you to each & every candidate, for believing in this local chapter, for believing in the experience AIESEC can provide you & for showing purest of intent for the most important team of the local chapter. This year saw an exponential increase in number of applicants from past years, and a huge huge growth in female leaders aspiring for bigger roles in AIESEC. Thank you for being the leader, it leaves me satisfied that we did our job, by empowering people who are ready to deliver & go beyond.

"Knock Knock. Who's there? Opportunity. Opportunity who? Opportunity to take Responsibility."

Opportunities are knocking your doors & opportunities would keep knocking your doors throughout 2014. Are you ready to grab these opportunities with open hands? These opportunities have names to it,  "Management Body 2014 AIESEC Chandigarh" & "Organizing Committee February Recruitment 2014 AIESEC Chandigarh" but I would just call them responsibility & opportunity to develop leadership. Responsibility to be the flag bearers of AIESEC Chandigarh, responsibility of 100s of experiences, responsibility of activating leadership each & every day & thus developing your own leadership. 36 hours to deadline, I hope you make the most out of it. Need help, we are here for you. Your both EBs are just a call away. Just one suggestion, read the resources attached with email. oh & not to forget you need to show your leadership intent through your actions. (Read: Criteria for MB).

Celebrating 25 Years of AIESEC Chandigarh

On 21st December 2013, AIESEC Chandigarh would celebrate 25 years of its existence. I have been talking to a lot of alumni & whenever I meet them, I ask them 'What does 25th anniversary of AIESEC Chandigarh means to you?'. I meet a lot of clients, board members, people who are associated with AIESEC in some or the other way and ask them 'If an organization is 25 years old, what does it mean?'. Answers to these 2 simple questions, left me awe-struck. In simple words, they said, it means you are relevant. Relevant because people have believed in the organization from past 25 years, & in these past 25 years organizations have provided the leadership platform integrated with exposure to the world & thus created 1000s of leaders who are now changing this world, for good.

Finishing Strong to Build to Last

As we prepare ourselves for 2014, we should no way have a psychological block & wait for a fresh year, thus discounting on 12 days we have in 2013. These 12 days, what we do in these 12 days would directly effect 2014 & would shape 2014. Each and every match, each and every raise, each & every experience delivered in next 12 would just help in building a stronger 2014. It is easy to fall in temptation of 'fresh start', 'new beginning' but well having witnessed 3 transitions this is the most harmful thing that can happen to the local chapter. Now that our exams are over and we are relatively free, let us get together & finish 2013 strong. [Read: Unleash your Potential]

Also, seeing AIESEC Chandigarh 2013, a lot of you were not there to witness my own elections. To understand what 2013 meant to me, to get a brief idea of what was the thought behind the year & how I always envisioned this year to end, do flip through the pages of my manifesto. 12 days left, and I need you to complete 2013.

P.S. - Remember you made promises to yourself & to your department at October Strategy Conference, go back to those promises, are you fulfilling your promises?

Closing Thought - 'Abundance'

These days I have been reading this book named 'Abundance' by Steven Kotler, & this book talks about a very simple fact that we have abundance of everything around us, be it knowledge, resources, people. We talk about world issues like unemployment, water scarcity, global warming are changing the way we live each & everyday but with abundance of everything around us, these are just small problems. The book gives solution to the world issues scientists have failed to find a solution for, and these solutions are based on a very simple concept that we need to look at the world differently, we need to look at resources available differently & thus use very simple yet powerful power of abundance.

While reading this book, I was doing reviews. It was clearly visible in the reviews that people lack operational knowledge & management skills, and as much as they want to gain these skills they are clueless on who to approach, what to ask for & more importantly how to make it efficient & time convenient. After giving it some thought, I came across this very simple yet powerful solution. We use this tool each & everyday, you are using it right now. It is called Internet. Internet is a hub of abundance knowledge, anything you need, you just need to google it & you would get multiple links that would make your life busy. Want to learn better ways of matching? Google "Learn Online Marketing". Want to learn some software? Google "Free Photoshop Tutorials".

Learning is the 1st step to become a successful leader, & learning is cycle of gaining knowledge & doing things. So I wish that you use abundance of knowledge available around you, use the internet to learn anything & everything you always desire for. Here are the few personal favorites to read articles/blogs on management & leadership.

Lastly,
I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did making it. Just to recap:
1. We have a new EB. :)
2. Rendezvous 2013
3. Finishing Strong - Now or Never
4. Abundance

Would be looking forward to your replies, do share what you would be thinking or feeling.

See you all on 21st December.
