Dear Alka
It’s not about mentioning my name but to essentially capture the sentiments of the residents in its entirety both in spirit and of the essence in what transpired in the EGM. In fact it is sad that the President
of the Committee in her vote of thanks did acknowledge the previous committee and yet went back to allowing the enumeration of all the lacunae which was agreed would not be mentioned as her commitment to Mr Gehlot on the day before the EGM and then during
the EGM. Sometimes, we as human beings forget the gratitude and appreciation that we might need to have for people who might have been instrumental in taking care of mothers or even attending to many on medical grounds free of cost but any way I am not here
to sermonise the committee.
I am giving below the essence of the EGM which residents who attended might agree to or may not which obviously will depend on how it is perceived..........
I will refer to point number 3 as all the acrimony is on account of the accounting system followed in the last couple of years which the present Treasurer terms as “laxaties”. This to my and several others’
mind was more to run down his brother and the then President which I took permission of the Treasurer to address the gathering, when the series of charges were being made more because of apparent animosity between the two brothers and his begrudging the then
President whose love for Mayfair has made her want to stay on by living as a tenant in the same property owned by the two brothers.
My recommendation was that post the letter of 22nd September 2020 by Mr Vinod Hingorani circulated on the eve of the EGM was self explanatory and based on that letter, an approval from all the stake holders
should have been taken as a way forward. Unfortunately, it did not happen and further letters/notices were send out as if to corner and criminalise the then committee which not only hurt the then President who many of the existing office bearers are beholden
to ! Anyway on my suggestion, Mr Raj Singh in support of my proposal reiterated what he had told the present President of the Committee the previous day that if there are any short falls in reconciliation of monies the same can be collected from him with
no mention of any negative or laxities committed by the then committee as the present Treasurer failed to indicate any amount that was short when queried by Mr Raj Singh Gehlot during the EGM. In fact Mr Gehlot, put it as a “PRECONDITION” saying
‘NOTHING OF THE PREVIOUS OFFICE BEARERS WILL BE DISCUSSED!”.
Hence, if we really understand the spirit and essence behind Mr Gehlot’s advise then the following is what emerges which was proposed by me and seconded by Mr Gehlot with the support of all members attending.......
Which meant
1. The closing balance as on 23rd August 2020 will be the opening balance for this year with budgets of expenditure up to March 31st 2021 to be presented in the next meeting since I suggested that as per
the MOA once a month a meeting can be held if required and due approval taken. This the present Treasurer acknowledged.
2.The interest on FD is deducted by the bank for income tax and a certificate generated which is good enough as the RWA is a non profit organisation and if submission of income tax is required it has to
be proposed by the approved Auditor which has still to be identified and presented to the members. Since the previous Auditor had recommended that no need to submit or file any income tax since there is no earning for profit!
Unfortunately, it seemed that concerned people were in a hurry to end the meeting so the conclusions were not drawn up for running it by all the attendees which if done then then the sanctity of the EGM
would have been retained and the draft MOM would have been approved.
The other point I would like to draw everyone’s attention to is point number 20
where in it was finalised that no matter how many apartments or houses one
may own in Mayfair Gardens, there will be one voting right to appoint a proxy member from the family which was proposed by Mr Raj Singh Gehlot and seconded by me and approved by all. However, there was a
genuine concern regarding where there was joint ownership how would that be addressed for voting to which it was agreed by the present Committee and its President as proposed by Mr Gehlot to map or find out how many such cases exist in Mayfair Gardens which
then can be taken up separately as an exception and not as a rule.
The aforementioned points are what I took back from the EGM and I once again would request that let us move forward in a positive and supportive manner. The present Committee can be willing to work hard
but all of us need to support them provided they are willing to learn as we go along since none of us are perfect.
Here’s wishing everyone a great Year of HOPE with a VAST HEART to embrace all as one BIG FAMILY with Good Health, Happiness and above all PEACE !
Yours sincerely
