PB in the 39th Ward allows residents to allocate $500,000 from the menu for capital funds.

As you may know, the 39th ward is one of nine wards engaging in the Participatory Budgeting (PB) process. PB is a democratic process in which community members directly decide how to spend part of the public budget, also known as the “menu." “Menu money” is ward specific money that the Alderman allocates to specific needs across the ward.

PB in the 39th Ward allows residents to allocate $500,000 from the menu for capital funds. It has solicited community suggestions and has now entered the next phase in which community votes are sought to determine the degree of support for various suggested projects.

Voting will open up on Monday, January 31 and go through Friday, February 11. During that time, please go to the Ward’s website at https://aldermannugent.com/participatory-budgeting and make your suggestions count by voting for projects you would like to see funded. Pay attention to several projects that will tie together existing bike and walkways though our communities and parks.
