Ijust recently upgraded a client to Sage 100 2016 Advanced PU #3. This was a fifty user installation and I have had 3-4 different machines have a situation where the program would lock up periodically.

So I would go to task manager and starting killing the Sage 100 tasks. Upon killing the last Sage 100 task, a new task for Change Accounting Date would appear. It is nowhere to be seen on the monitors. It only appears in the task manager. Really strange. Would go ahead and kill that task as well and then go to processes and kill a hanging pvxwin32 entry as well.

So far I seem to have been successful in resolving this by uninstalling the workstation setup (including) those from prior versions (2013 and 2015) that were still on the computer. Then going to the users my documents folder and deleting the Sage 100 folder that contains the saved settings for that user. On one user the problem reoccurred about a week later (I think I had not deleted the Sage 100 folder in my documents?). Verdict is still out as to whether this is a permanent fix.

Now I have noticed a similar problem on my own system (Sage 100 2017). I think it may have been happening before, but I just kind of ignored it because I chalked it up to my computer needed to be rebooted for other reasons. Got suspicious when I saw the mysterious Change Accounting Date in the task manager this morning. I have discovered that if I try to do a switch to I can then see an entry on the task bar at the bottom of my screen and can see it waiting for a response but I can't bring it up to actually hit enter.

Some more info. I did confirm that users with extra wide monitors are seeing the problem as well.

Have also confirmed a situation where a broadcast message from the master console can cause the freeze up as well.

It is, isn't it? It's becoming difficult to look forward to functioning during the day ahead when you know what you will be dealing with... demotivating and frustrating... this deserves major compensation.

This is really starting to me off that SAGE cannot get stability sorted out. It has taken me an entire day to do 1 simple bank recon. Seriously I normally do that in 15 minutes. What the hell is going on here SAGE?

Most of my clients have a fixed fee based on a certain amount of hours per month. Well I am making a loss on time but SAGE are very quick to debit our accounts. I have a good mind and return the debit order

Yes, these corporates always just apologise. No further commitment. I'm tired of it - there needs to be a monetary refund - not just of the time the software is out of action, but also compensation for the additional time required to get things back to where they should be. Maybe we need to invoice them?

I am also looking at Xero. What is worse is that I forced my biggest customer to move from QB to Sage because I did not enjoy the QB experience. And since we moved over it has been one thing after the other.

Sage have bigger issues that just infrastructure. There is definite application issues also. I could not create a new GL account, I have not been able to process a journal, I had to press the review button more times than I care to imagine and I am now trying to do invoicing and keep on getting kicked out. My client is going to blame his cash flow issues on me

I got into the system but got kicked out again. Trust me even if you are in the system there is not much you can do. I have not been able to do journals , invoices, cash receipts, adding of gl account and pressing the marked as review button in banking took 48 attempts. So even if you are in SAGE it means nothing. It makes me seriously consider if it is worth having a cloud solution for accounting.

OK, I have just timed it. It took 43 minutes from the point that I clicked on the shortcut in my browser to get to the sign in page .Now I am watching the wheel of death turning to see if I can get back in . and if you click the blue button you get the following "This action has already been performed. Please be patient."

I cannot login to sage accounting software.

I am in South Africa. I have a sage accounting package. When I try to create a zap using sage accounting I am required to give my login details. I am providing the correct login details but it says that the username or password is incorrect.

I think that this is because I selected the wrong region initially. There does not seem to be an option to reselect the region before signing in to my sage account

Please help

Thanks you

I was reading up on data connectors to 3rd party platforms such as Excel, Access, etc. but didn't see any information about accounting systems such as Sage or Quickbooks. Has anyone ever linked an accounting systems to Smartsheet? I am assuming it is possible, but I want to gather other's experiences if they have.

@NikkiOno CData provides standards-based, reliable data services. It is a technically-implemented approach to extending Sage functionality with Smartsheet. Similarly, the CData Smartsheet driver can read/write records. The Smartsheet API and Data Connector are the other technical services I recommend, while Bridge & Data Mesh may accomplish your aim without a technical lift from your team.

You're a miracle, thank you so much for your patience and support. I have now managed to load the Sage data via my laptop into Qlikview and can start working on the Qlikview code that you kindly shared with me.

In case anybody else subsequently reads this thread, my problem was with the ODBC driver. As Mandy correctly points out, this only works on the physical computer onto which the full Sage software is loaded. Simply running the installation routine to load it onto your PC or laptop does not run a complete installation. Again in the name of completeness, the error messages I got included references to data mismatches and a message saying ODBC driver not found when I tried to remove the Sage driver from my laptop. I got around this by loading the whole Sage 50 Accounts 2013 application onto my laptop then running the ODBC installation from the ODBC32 subdirectory. You can then totally ignore the Sage installation and access the Sage data on the shared drive on the server. The files can be found, as Mandy says, in the driveletter:\Accounts\ACCDATA in a series of DTA files. Save these as QVDs as described in Mandy's post.

click finish - give your data source a name you will remember, and add the data path - if you go to my computer and look to where your ACCDATA files are stored - use the properties of this as the data path.

Thanks for your help. I still can't get this to work. The whole ODBC setup and administration seems to not work rather than your suggestion of how to do it so I would like to thank you personally for trying. It seems you have a unique skill in getting Sage to connect to Qlikview! Good luck.

That's dissappointing - dont give up. If you want to email me directly I can provide screen shots to try and help you? Are you working on the server computer? ie the computer that the back up files are stored within?

I note from another post that you made that you are wanting to look at invoice data - thats one of the pages within the dashboard that I've set up - the company are now finding that they use QlikView when dealing with customers and suppliers rather than SAGE because it is so easy to bring data from different reports through to the same screen. It would be a shame if you didnt finish it - believe me if I can do it any one can!

Code to create the invoice QVD's is below, the passwords and user id's are pulled through from the ODBC set up - use the admin codes. Remember to build it on a computer that has access to the server files, ie where the backups are stored. Good Luck, Mandy

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad my post proved top be useful. I'm afraid I am new to this forum and can't find out how to let people know that Mandy's answer was correct. I can put videos, smileys and all sorts of stuff up here but not mark the answer a correct. Can you point me in the right direction?

It makes a lot of sense to work from home during this Coronavirus pandemic. Whether you're self-employed or have employees to pay, having the sage accounting software isn't a luxury; it's a necessity.
